“Greetings Parents:

As we move closer to Provincial Election time and the end of the current Teacher Contract, we are beginning to engage in actions to advocate for the schools students and teachers deserve.

ETT Teachers (Elementary Teachers of Toronto) are engaging in a petition campaign to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.  We are asking all parents, guardians, community members, and education staff to participate.  The petition calls for the following:
1. Provide funding to the TDSB to be able to provide appropriate PPE for staff and students and;
2. Ensure a regular supply of Rapid Antigen Tests be made available to schools to be sent home to ensure regular testing prior to attending school and;
3. Update the funding formula from 1998 to 2022 to meet current student needs, provide specialty teachers, and repair schools.

We are hoping to gather signatures after school on the sidewalks surrounding Earl Beatty on Tuesday March 8th and Wednesday March 9th.

As always, we appreciate your support in our fight to build better schools so students and staff have what they need to be safe, happy and successful.

Thanks,

The Earl Beatty Teachers

New initiative from TDSB for students

I LOVE this initiative from the TDSB:

“Racism and hate have no place in our school communities. But we know many of you deal with it every day. That is why we are looking to you and to hear your voices (loudly!) on how to make positive change in the TDSB and beyond.

We are launching a Student Equity Collective. It’s a new type of leadership opportunity here in the Board and we are excited about its potential. This is an opportunity to not only sit at the table, but to design what the table looks like, drive the conversation, and bring ideas, solutions and recommendations forward that address what you want to address.

These issues are big and deep but we need your voice, your ideas and your energy, to address these issues in ways that are meaningful to you.

We’re looking to hear from a variety of diverse voices and identities from all across our system from students in Grades 7 to 11. You don’t have to have any previous leadership experience, you only have to have a passion and an interest in sparking change to address injustices and eliminate racism and hate.

Is this you? Will you join us? Apply now at www.tdsb.on.ca/studentequitycollective to be part of the solution.

Over the coming weeks there will be several digital tool support sessions offered to help students with questions about creating a submission for the Student Equity Collective with TDSB digital tools. Sessions will run every Monday and Wednesday beginning on January 24 and will run until February 9. Students will need to register here: https://aw.tdsb.on.ca/tdsblogin.aspx

If students have general questions about the application, there is support available Monday, January 24, January 31 and February 7. Students will need to register here: https://aw.tdsb.on.ca/tdsblogin.aspx.

If you have any questions please email, studentequitycollective@tdsb.on.ca”
