International Day of Pink April 13!

Don’t forget to wear pink tomorrow! April 13 is International Day of Pink!

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

The International Day of Pink is a worldwide anti-bullying and anti-homophobia event held annually during the second week of April. Similar to Pink Shirt Day (held in February) in that it also seeks to end all bullying, the Day of Pink is more specifically aimed towards anti-LGBTQ+ bullying.

A little background about the day:

πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆ

The event began when two Canadian high school students noticed a gay student at their school being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. The two students got everyone at their school to wear pink the following day as a gesture of support, inspiring Jer’s Vision (now Canadian Centre for Gender and Sexual Diversity) to establish the International Day of Pink.

Don’t have a pink shirt? Don’t worry! How about a pink hat? Hairband? Sweatband? Pink pants? Bracelet? Anything pink will do!

Masking at school

Anyone else done with stinking Covid?

Cases are on the rise and we know it’s a pain to wear masks BUT we would love to see masks worn inside the classrooms.

If you or a family member have Covid, please email Nina to let her know so that families can make their own decision about exposure risk.

Together we will keep our community safe. Thank you for all your efforts!!

Happy March Break

Happy first day of March Break! Some are out of the City but for those that are doing staycations what are some of the activities this week?

I always love our local Don Mills Science Centre: https://www.ontariosciencecentre.ca/

I really loved this article about fun things to do at Ontario Place: https://www.blogto.com/events/march-break-at-ontario-place-toronto/

Want the ocean experience without the plane tickets? Try Ripley’s Aquarium! https://www.ripleyaquariums.com/canada/

Still not ready for indoor events? What about walking the outdoor pavilions at the Toronto Zoo? https://www.torontozoo.com/

Plan ahead. Some places may still be doing timed entrances so you have to get tickets in advance.

No matter what, have fun and stay safe!
