EBSAC is Taking Budget Proposals for 2019-2020

2020 EBSAC proposal

Do you have a program or idea that may require money from the School Council Budget to run?

This year we are making our planning process more transparent and inclusive to EB stakeholders. EBSAC has a cash holding to support success in our school and we are taking proposals for the 2019-2020 budget year.  Proposals do not necessarily have to be revenue generating (E.g: Fun Fair) we will accept proposals for Community Building ideas as well (E.g: murals). To make your voice heard you can submit ideas through our online form and wait for big changes next year.

Since this is a new endeavor, here is the 101 of how things work:

Who approves the budget?

The annual school budget is put forward by the Treasurer and approved by the elected members of the Earl Beatty Student Advisory Council (EBSAC).

How is the budget developed?

Overseen by the EBSAC Treasurer, stakeholder members of the Earl Beatty community (students, parents, teachers, administration) will all be given the opportunity to submit proposals for events, initiatives and programs for the upcoming year (these do not need to be revenue generating enterprises). The elected council will meet to review each proposal and vote on whether it should receive funding for the following year based on the goals and objectives set by the council after public consultation.

What is the budget development timeline?

May– The Treasurer invites and receives proposals for the following year from EB community stakeholders (students, parents/guardians, staff, administration).

June– The committee meets to review and approve all proposals, successful candidates are notified

September– the previous years’Treasurer brings forward the final budget draft for approval by the new school council executive

Ongoing– The Current Treasurer will be responsible for updating on all running programs (including expenses and revenues and summary reviews)
