Earl Beatty’s library is a vital part of the school. Our kids visit the school library each week to borrow books, hear stories, and explore the space. Having a welcoming library is important to promoting literacy and a love for books and reading. At the moment, there is some room for improvement…

The school administration and EBSAC have identified the library as an area that needs upgrading. Fortunately, the school board was on the same page, and over last summer they completed several renovations: added air conditioning, removed the librarian office to open up the space, tore out the risers; painted, and installed new carpet throughout. During this process, however, we lost some of our shelving, seating areas, and a really usable circulation desk.
Ms. Karailiadis and Ms. Vlahos, our school librarian, have been working on plans for future library improvements. These include new shelving, new French and English books, a circulation desk, comfortable reading areas and tables and chairs for the kids. Through fundraising efforts like Holiday in the Hood and the school Read-a-Thon, EBSAC is working to support the library improvement goals. We’ll provide updates as the project continues. Stay tuned for the “after” pictures!
